“Let her light always shine through your gifts.”
September 30, 2013 – With your help, the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund (DFSMF) makes a difference in the lives of the area’s most vulnerable children, while honoring the memory of my daughter, Deborah F. Sager.
After Debbie passed in 1978, I established the DFSMF with funds raised from the nationally-recognized Newcomb Hospital Horse Show and the Atlantic City International Equestrian Festival that was produced by our family and close friends. Thirty-three years later, Debbie’s fund is still growing through donations and cumulative earnings.
In 2012, the DFSMF made a $250,000 contribution to the Inspira Medical Center Vineland for its new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In response to that donation, the unit was named the Deborah F. Sager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Going forward, earnings from the fund will be 100% committed to supporting the needs of the neonatal and/or pediatric departments of Inspira Health Network.
Each time that I visit the NICU at the Inspira Medical Center Vineland, I am overwhelmed by the skilled medical care, compassion and nurturing environment that is showered upon each and every child that is in need. As you walk through the NICU you witness the “Pathway To Miracles” that happens each and every day. The equipment, services and health care professionals in this arena are charged with saving and improving fragile newborn lives. Naming this unit in honor of Debbie allows her spirit to live on and touch the lives of other children!
So often the 16 bed NICU is filled to capacity with tiny precious souls, each fighting for its own existence. And while the NICU has a stellar track record in being able to help these children, we need your assistance to give them chance to THRIVE and follow their pathway in life.
